Install CloudPanel only on a supported, clean server operating system. CloudPanel documentation supports ARM on supported Linux distributions; verify the current installer requirements before running it.
You should be able to log in to CloudPanel over the LAN and see server health without making the management panel publicly open to everyone.
Step-by-step
Read the current CloudPanel requirements
Confirm that your Debian or Ubuntu version is supported and that the system is otherwise clean. A control panel expects to manage the web stack itself.
Install the prerequisites
Update the system and install the small set of tools required by the installer.
sudo apt update && sudo apt -y upgrade && sudo apt -y install curl wget sudo
Download the installer from CloudPanel
Use the installer command shown in the current CloudPanel documentation. The project publishes a checksum with the installer; verify it before execution instead of copying an old command from a random tutorial.
Choose a database engine
Pick the supported MySQL or MariaDB option that fits your needs. For a new personal WordPress server, either supported engine can work; consistency and backups matter more than chasing tiny benchmark differences.
Open the CloudPanel interface locally
After installation, browse to the Pi LAN address on CloudPanel port 8443 from your own network and create the first administrator account. Do not expose 8443 to the whole Internet just because the panel is installed.
Restrict management access
Use the CloudPanel firewall or an upstream firewall so SSH 22 and CloudPanel 8443 are limited to trusted source addresses when possible. If your public IP changes often, consider a VPN or CloudPanel Basic Auth in addition to strong credentials.
You should be able to log in to CloudPanel over the LAN and see server health without making the management panel publicly open to everyone.
Troubleshooting
If the installer fails, do not keep re-running it blindly. Read the first failure, verify the OS and architecture, and inspect the installer log.
What you learned
You now understand the purpose of this part of the system and have a concrete result you can verify before continuing to the next lesson.
